TVD Video Premiere: The Grey Area

If you’re a bit up to here with all of the DC Record Fair talk around these parts, I’m almost with you. But bear with me a sec.

These thrice annually events aren’t just for the vinyl fans among us, but seemingly for those who are simply enlightened by music in general—no matter the playback source. I’ve had some of the most inspired and knowledgable chats about music at these fairs and very often with musicians or attendees who could really give a toss about vinyl or anything analog.

Jason and T.J. from DC’s The Grey Area certainly left Saturday’s record fair with some vinyl under both of their arms—but I took home one of those aforementioned inspired and knowledgable conversations courtesy of these two.

As such, TVD is delighted to present the premiere of The Gray Area’s new video, “Ourselves.”

“Washington is hungry for a band like ours,” says Jason, singer, songwriter and guitarist. “For years the D.C.-area has produced dozens of amazing blues, jazz, punk, and folk acts. Now D.C. has an indie rock band to call its own.” The band’s other half, T.J., is a gifted Gospel drummer and Air Force veteran. The pair met at an open blues jam in Adams Morgan and immediately found musical chemistry.

The Grey Area operates exclusively on Facebook and offers a free download of their second single, “You,” on their Facebook page. “You” was recently selected by the editors at The Vinyl District as a track that press offices and PR agencies want you to be hearing.”
