Chalk, aka Steven Stride proves that Brighton is, as ever, a hive of creative activity. “In Your Suit” is a track taken from Chalk’s self-titled debut album, out 2nd September 2013 via Sonic Anhedonic Recording Co.
The track is wonderfully introspective with the simple melody accompanying Steven’s delicate, heart-felt vocals. The video reflects the melancholy of the song as we follow a lone woman’s daily routine. She wakes up, she gets ready, she joins the rat race. As she gazes out the train window, images of herself standing in a sunny field appear and it’s clear she’s either remembering or yearning for a life beyond the city’s high rises.
The track is short and bitter-sweet. It’s a beautifully composed song that showcases Steven’s simple and effective songwriting skills.
