Sunset Graves, aka Andy Fosberry, has been releasing music for the last few years but he’s finally released his debut album Variant and the sound is one of an artist who is able to bend genres and create magnificent, intricate soundscapes.
From alternative rock riffs to prog, electronica and ambient post-rock, Andy’s songwriting skills signal a man who understands the writing process deeply, a cerebral thinker who puts his all into each intelligently crafted track.
Variant was recorded in Andy’s own studio, which he calls The Graveyard. Here he doesn’t lay tracks to rest, rather he resurrects influences, thoughts, images, and feelings and relays them into perfectly written songs. Although it feels as though he has used a full band to record the album, this is all one man in his studio, layering samples and intertwining them with various instruments to blur the lines between samples versus live recordings.
Andy is already writing his second album and will return with new material very soon—it’ll be exciting to see where Sunset Graves will go next.
