Warriors of the Dystotheque are a band with a lot of layers, and with each layer comes an incredible new sound that will whisk you away to another planet. It’s for this reason that we’ve decided to make them our Artist of the Week.
Their latest EP, “Return To The Coney” delves deep into the world of modern trip hop and gloomtronica—fans of Massive Attack and UNKLE will know what we’re talking about. But even if you don’t this EP is still worth a listen, if only for singer Ella Joy’s haunting vocals and the plethora of talented collaborators who have helped to create this superb recording.
The band met interestingly enough, through Facebook. Despite being dotted across the globe, this four piece have managed to create, collaborate, and release music extremely worthy of your valuable time. The idea of the band came from founding member Jonny Mac where—through a Facebook post—he met Mike Rufolo and Nick Rufolo, and was later joined by Sean Graham. As a result, Warriors of the Dystotheque was born and they’ve been making incredible lo-fi sounds ever since.
Warriors of the Dystotheque’s “Return To Coney” is out on 4th March 2016 via Tigre Fair.
