UK Artist of the Week: Planes

This UK Artist of the Week might be considered cheating as not ALL of them hail from the rainy island across the Atlantic we do so love. But, how could we resist featuring Planes? Their second EP, “Hotfoot,” is released 11th May 2015 via Merrington Music.

You may recognise one member of the band already—it is of course Steve Forrest, drummer of Placebo fame who recently announced he was leaving the band to focus all his energy on Planes—and we’re pretty glad he did. Planes have developed an epic sound with this new EP and it’s packed with anthemic, cinematic rock vibes and plenty of swagger.

Planes consists of Steve Forrest (lead vocals & guitar), Char O’Lette (keys, strings & vocals), Ted Brunning (guitar & vocals), Ed Harris (drums), and Dan Sayer (bass & vocals). The band is currently based somewhere between Brighton and California and have already gained a strong and dedicated following of fans (who, naturally, call themselves Pilots. Because… well, if you need it explained then there’s no helping you).

Planes also regularly take to twitter using the #AskPlanes hashtag to engage with their supporters. Great to see a band using social media properly!
