Prog nine piece, Knifeworld released their debut album Buried Alone: Tales of Crushing Defeat back in 2009, followed by their “Dear Lord, No Deal” EP, and another EP, “Clairvoyant Fortnight” last year all via alternative label Believers Roast.
The band headed by Kavus Torabi, who founded Believers Roast, have been hiding away, recording their second album and occasionally coming out to play the odd live show.
With Kavus having a history with acts such as the Cardiacs, the band’s fanbase is strong and loyal, with press singing them nothing but praises over the last four years. For those who can’t wait until the next release, Kavus is presenting a special compilation of artists titled The Exquisite Corpse Game.
Kavus has assembled a set of unique artists to create a piece of music based on the rules of the old parlour game, “Exquisite Corpse.” Each artist would hear the last 20 seconds of music and were given between one and four minutes to write something based on this “fold.” The trailer for The Exquisite Corpse Game gives you an idea of the method behind the music.
Kavus Torabi appears on The Exquisite Corpse Game along with Max Tundra, JG Thirlwell (Foetus), Appleblim, and many more. This release is another example of Torabi’s inventive mind, and Knifeworld’s music is the amalgamation of all nine members’ creative and wonderfully oddball take on prog. Quite frankly, we can’t wait to hear more Knifeworld very soon.
