As Diverse Records summarizes so well at their site, “This story is short, and indeed sweet. We love Polly’s music, Polly wanted her third album on vinyl, we decided it would be really good idea for us to do something together. We’re doing this a little differently to usual in we’re going to release it and distribute half the pressing run to shops around the world and Polly is having half to sell direct to her fans. She’s using Pledge Music to raise the money for this…”
Those of you with keen memories will recall Polly’s First Date with us last June, and as such we thought we’d put her Pledge campaign on your collective radars.
“OK, you got me. It’s true. I’m of an age where I actually did go to my local record shop and bought my favourite albums and singles on vinyl.
I have my original collection and I often put records on our turntable. There’s something satisfying about the tactile experience of placing a real needle in a real groove. I think it helps me to listen, to appreciate, to concentrate – rather than shoehorning music into my life around 60 other jobs. And yes, I like Big Artwork. My first two albums are available on vinyl but my third, “Leaves from the Family Tree”, is not – yet.
When I canvassed fans about the idea of pressing up 500 vinyl copies of “Leaves…”, Diverse Records contacted me offering to share the experience. With their expertise the album will be mastered by Ray Staff at Air and manufactured at Pallas in Germany, and distributed internationally. Diverse has pressed vinyl for Joan Baez, Richard Thompson, Laura Marling, and Daniel Lanois among others: I’ll be keeping good company.” —Polly Paulusma, from her Pledge campaign page
