The See See

London-based, multi-cultural band, The See See are, Richard Olson, Pete Greenwood, Kevin Peyok, Paulie Cobra, Phil Anderson and Ben Swank. Made up of former members of groups including The Eighteenth Day Of May, The Soledad Brothers, Grand Cobra and The Waxwings (as well as acclaimed singer-songwriter Pete Greenwood), The See See are a relaxed breeze of psychedelic fresh air blowing through a generally serious music industry.

With five successful 7″ singles under their belt, three European tours as well as support tours with both The Raconteurs and The Brian Jonestown Massacre and the release of their debut album on CD and vinyl in November 2010 the boys are seemingly both unstoppable and omnipresent! We caught up with Richard on the day of release of their 6th single to talk turkey.

You guys have been very busy of late on a number of fronts. You’ve put out some great tracks on vinyl, on a variety of labels, most of which are sold out. What’s your thinking behind this aggressive vinyl strategy?

It’s not a strategy. What happens happens and we go with it usually. Of course we love the format so we go with it every time someone asks us… We’ve also had a very busy year with a lot of shows and loads of new recordings…

The See See – 400 Miles

You also got a split 7″ coming soon. When’s that happening and how did that come about?

It’s out on June 13th on Great Pop Supplement with the best new band we have heard in ages called By The Sea, I heard them on a podcast and couldn’t believe it… Since then we’ve done a few shows together and now here we are…

What about live dates. When/where can people get to see you?

We’re taking it a bit easy on gigs for the time being as we want to finish our new record but we’re doing a few festival dates and the odd Europe one. All to be found on our website.

For folks who aren’t familiar with you, tell us about the ethos and sound of the band?

We’re mainly a bunch of ragtags who got together hanging out and playing together, we love each others company and love playing together. We also like psychedelic music.

What are your plans for 2012?

Releasing the new record and touring Europe and the UK.

As a final questions, If you were left with only one album to your name what would it be and why?

As a desert island disc thing? The Notorious Byrd Brothers gets me every time….
