Needle Drop: Eric Taylor Escudero, “Black River”

Eric Taylor Escudero has recently released free track “Black River” from his album We Were Young And It Was Morning and it’s absolutely stunning from start to finish if you ask us.

The track begins with a really beautiful guitar-lead introduction before Eric’s haunting vocals come into play and take centre stage. Despite the lyrics of the song being quite depressing—“everybody dies alone”—there is an element of warmth and comfort somehow from the exquisite musicianship throughout. Eric Taylor is also joined by backing vocalist Ana Luísa Ramos in the chorus and their harmonies feel effortless and on-point throughout.

We’ve been fans of Escudero’s for a while now here at The Vinyl District and with tracks like this, it’s not hard to see why. Brazilian-born, Eric has this incredible ability evoke a British sensibility in his music, his warming tones a perfect accompaniment to the cold winter months.

His album We Were Young And It Was Morning is a must listen.
