Music Monday – Old
and New: Bobby Conn / Blackbird Blackbird

‘Winners’ is my favourite track from Bobby Conn’s 2001 album The Golden Age. It’s a wonderful pop song, combining Carribean sounds with a heartbreakingly electric feel, building throughout until it reaches a mesmerizing vocal-organ conclusion. This is a song that is timeless in its beauty.

This new Blackbird Blackbird song ‘Passions’ is their best yet. A wonderfully melodic summer infused jam that carries like a wave. It’s not often one song can be described as having Tropicalia, Singer Songwriter and Chillwave influences, but ‘Passions’ has them all and so much more. One of the most imaginative bands around have just outdone themselves.
