Music Monday – New
and Old: Ben Sommers / Pearl Jam

Having established himself on the live London circuit as an unpredictable and thrilling troubadour, Ben Sommers now releases his achingly eerie ballad “Elephant, You” as a pre-cursor to his forthcoming debut album Avocado Chip.

This video takes the viewer into a party in full swing, with a trip-like sequence of slow motion revelry, on the brink of debauched explosion, creating a strange juxtaposition to the audio track’s delicate beauty.

It’s been two decades since Seattle’s Pearl Jam released their first album Ten: An album which, whilst slow to gain traction, ultimately went on to sell more than 10 million copies worldwide, and earn Pearl Jam a place in the pantheon of rock history.

“Jeremy” was the third single taken from this debut, and is based in part on the true story of a Dallas schoolboy, Jeremy Wade Delle, who killed himself after being tormented at school. It is a desperate story with a dark message.
