Introducing
Zoe Boekbinder

Wow. We have heard a lot of great records in 2011: Meg Baird, Big Troubles, The Donkeys, Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo, Girls, The Goldberg Sisters, Jonathan Wilson, Kurt Vile, Low, Mara Carlyle, P.G. Six, People Of Water, Portugal The Man, Sarabeth Tucek, The Stepkids, Shelby Earl, Thurston Moore, Trembling Bells and White Denim have all blown our collective wigs off this year.

Then, out of nowhere, the Zoe Boekbinder album was sent to us by a breathlessly enthusiastic Kelly at the PR company. I have to say that she was right, and her exultations were not unfounded or misguided. If you’re looking for reference points, then how about Feist and Karen Dalton for starters? That’s just to help you.

The album is an instant classic, with great instrumentation, sharp lyrics and a beautifully judged production, which allows the songs to breathe, and this freshest of new artists to make her mark.

Zoe is currently touring the west coast of America, now can I make a heartfelt plea: get her over here to the UK!
