Dante is a band who proudly wear their Scottish hearts on their sleeves. With their debut album Wake, the band display a knack for curling their folk roots around upbeat indie tunes, making traditional Scottish folk more palatable for a wider audience.
There’s something a little Snow Patrol about tracks like “No Original Art,” but with that traditional folk edge, the band are carving a unique space just for themselves. Dante have taken their Celtic leanings one stage further than their peers—this is modern indie ceilidh rock.
The band will see out the year touring and immersed in their other side projects. It remains to be seen whether they can win over the general public to their traditional indie folk sounds, but we’re definitely listening.
