These past several days I’ve enjoyed Easter week doing what most parents do…chasing their kids around.
Yes, taking time off during “spring break” is almost mandatory for a dad. I mean, no self-respecting dude should “fully” strand his old lady with the kids. So, this last week was a mix and match of March madness, angry birds, Beyblades, Legos, and short road trips.
Our highlight was taking young Jonah to Disneyland for the first time. To my surprise, it was more hectic than last month’s SXSW—three times as packed and ten times the lines! Thank fucking god Jonah and his pal Stella were easily entertained by the “wonder” of it all.
“Wonder,” this week’s Idelic muse, came to me while navigating the crowded streets of Disneyland. The look in my child’s eyes while visiting the older attractions such as “It’s a Small World,” “Tiki Room,” or the Disney Castle was something to be grateful for. We were able to stand together in awe—Jonah at the grand spectacle, and myself at the simplicity and preservation of the Disneyland I marveled at as a boy.
A bit of digging through my crates, and it didn’t take long before I came across a nice selection of musical wonder on vinyl. Dig it.
