TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

Mid week I found myself sitting at the kitchen table without a clue. The big philosophical question,”Why?”

I started day dreaming, thinking about a good friend who drew a “sad card.” How could god let this happen? I know I know, I realize I’m just a DJ, playing records, trying to share something here. But why? Why anything and everything? Fuck knows, but doing this has meant something more than merely sharing obscure indie bands.

Oh yeah, and it’s 3 o’clock in the morning and I’m in a cozy house on a hill in LA. Shouldn’t I be wandering the streets of alphabet town? (What I am saying here is likely to be a mystery to all, save me.)

Oh yeah, and I just said the word god. It’s not what you think. I just found myself “a-wondering” how I got here and where the hell has it all gone?

Life’s a mystery, and essentially a cool ride. The more I meditate about it, the less I need answers.

Drum roll, please…it’s also the perfect setting for this week’s Idelic Hour. It’s an hour of music I’m calling “Mystery Ride” and it’s like most of my playlists—there are sad songs, slow songs, new songs, and old favorites.

To quote Zeb (Jahan Lennon) from The Po Po, “I’m feeling Mysterious today.” Who knows?
