TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

As a blogger, I enter the month of December with one thought in mind, “Get my year end list on!”

These days, the mad dash to list one’s opinion feels like a gold rush of sorts. As blogs, magazines, and tastemakers stake their claim to “critique each other out,” the fact is not lost on me that I’m happy do the same. These lists just keep coming at us faster and from every angle. (For fuck’s sake, I heard that even Time magazine has a “Best of” list this year.)

Who am I to complain though? I love making year end lists. It’s pay off for a hard year of bloggin’, and in some ways, a definition of who I am and where I sit in the lunchroom of life.

So, why the fuck not—I’m gonna make lists all fucking December! Those of you too busy to pay attention missed a great year of rocking! Feel free to catch up, join in, and rock!

The next two Idelic Hours will be dedicated to the weekly pastime I refer to as “The Idelic Hit.” More than my new band of the week, it’s a reaction to the music business’ need for the “next big hit or thing.

For your pleasure, Edward Sharpe, Woods, King Tuff, The Replacements, Foxygen, Toy, Twin Shadow, Poolside, Merchandise, Oren Lyons, Veronica Falls, Radkey, Orwells, Natural Child, and Soulsavers. The Idelic Hour salutes these brave artists for a job well done in 2012.

Kansas City here I come—and back next week for a second Idelic Shower of Golden Hits!
