TVD’s The Idelic Hour with Jon Sidel

Greetings from Laurel Canyon!

This week’s episode of the Idelic Hour is a playlist that’s been “A Long Time Coming.” I’m celebrating “myself-me” as my son Jonah would put it. Yep, on December 13th I’m rolling in another year of rock n roll! Your humble Idelic host will turn 50 on Tuesday. “OMFG!”

As a look my my computer screen I can’t help but to think how incredibly strange it is to see what I am writing. I am 50 years old! When I started my rock n roll journey there were no computer screens, internet, mobile phones, CDs, MP3’s—not even a fucking answering machine for my dial up phone.

Stranger than what the world has come to be in the last 50 is the fact that, although I am old enough to have seen both Elvis and The Who with Keith Moon, I for one still “feel” pretty much the same. My Idelic goal is to age like a Beach Boys song; gracefully.

So, this week I’m just giving myself love and musical hugs with some of my favorite bands of all time. It’s my Idelic Party and I am happy. Friends, please share my warmth.
