Greetings from Laurel Canyon!
Last weekend our boy, our wild and beautiful joy, Jonah Sidel turned six years old. When Jonah was born I was totally in, but little did I know just how all-consuming this little guy would be. For one thing he has forever changed my take on the month of August.
For much of the summer, the amount of thought, planning, preparation, and stress that went into Jonah and his Birthday party was fairly intense. My ol’ lady Susan could not help herself from the making the party for nine hooligans the most killer little B Day bash the Canyon has ever seen.
The great news today—the party was a smash and we now have spent a fairly mellow week watching Jonah meticulously construct several Lego vehicles and creatures.
The only problem seems to be that it feels like the Summer is already coming to a close.
Or maybe not? Not for this Idelic host! The kids might be going back to school too soon but the moon is growing full, skies are clear, and papa is ready to celebrate the joys of summer, at least for a few days. So, I am happy.
This Idelic Hour is basically a cheer: “666-888, who do we appreciate?!” Fuck man, I don’t know what I’m saying but I’m grateful for a few days off and California summers.
