Greetings from Laurel Canyon!
After the all the years making these online radio shows, I can’t recall ever actually “spinning” on Valentine’s Day. Being a former restaurateur I have spent many a Valentine’s evening watching couples go to and fro.
It’s actually a fairly uneasy and tense experience. You would think couples should be having way more fun on this night for lovers. Truth is, love doesn’t always handle “expectations” well.
My take: a night like tonight needs a song—in fact, song after song, after great song! A Valentine’s playlist is essential to fill hearts and calm tensions. If I may be so bold as to boast, I’m cool and seasoned at DJing for love.
My muse for this year’s annual Valentine’s hour are those artists who sing with “big hearts.” Call it, “turbo hearts club.”
I’ll let those voices tell the rest. Until next week, “live” from Folk Alliance in Kansas City.
Love ya…
