Greetings from Laurel Canyon!
Woke up to a Canyon covered in fake spider webs, rubber bats, and plastic skulls. Halloween week was sweet, save one sad note.
Lou Reed died. Now five days after the news, what is there left to say? Has the internet sucked out every accolade, playlist, or song to post?
Thinking about what I would do for this week’s Idelic tribute to punk’s godfather, I thought of what Lou might say. Maybe he’d say, “Who the fuck cares?” Lou was a deep New Yorker, sarcastic, mind blending, incredible, brilliant, and beautifully free.

I mean, what can you say about the fucking guy who dressed us in skinny black jeans and escorted us to the dark side of town?
As a teen, just the sight of his record covers opened the door to a new aesthetic. Punk in its inception was literally a term which described Lou Reed. After all, he was a prick but made us realize our lives and our music were going to be different and cool.
I am not traumatized or in deep mourning. I just want to listen to an Idelic Hour of Lou Reed songs.
