One gets the sense that The Chain Gang of 1974’s Kamtin Mohager has it in his genes to release complete musical statements. (We used to call them albums.)
“From Phil Collins to Fleetwood Mac to the Stills, all of my favorite artists have put out albums,” explains Mohager. “I wanted to do the same thing, not just release a record you kinda skip through.”
“It’s obvious that listening to music on vinyl is a different experience. The sound alone is unique when compared to digital or CD. But for me, there are two main reasons for my vinyl obsession,” Mohager told us earlier this week in an email.
“The first is the technology behind it. Every time I’m listening to one of my records, I’m so intrigued by how a needle is picking up such distinct sounds through precisely designed grooves. No other listening method of music comes close to that.
The second is owning such a special piece of music. I get so excited about holding one of my favorite album covers in such a large size, forever owning that piece of art.
My vinyl collection will never crash like someone’s hard drive will.”
