“The new record builds on a legacy that was created under a certain set of expectations. We have to push forward and reinvent ourselves, in order to be in sync with the urban environment, which is structured by unpredictable relationships. Neither of us feels particularly comfortable living in a city in crisis right now, but at the end of the day we turn to each other and seal a pact that music will be our eternal calling.”
“Delta Pi Delta is a symbolic point in the history of the band. It’s a record that describes our spiritual journey in an era of intense trials and a bizarre Greek reality. It’s neither an escapist game nor a random wandering journey into nature’s unknown. We know where we stand, we know where we are going, we simply don’t know what dreams are lurking in our sleep at night.
The Athenian soundscape is pretty much defined by its austerity environment and historical narrative. Its patterns of modern social interaction define the ‘sound’ of a city, framed by its industrial decay or its mourning drones produced over the bodies of hundreds of anonymous migrants.
On this soundscape we apply our own sounds. So, the sound of the sirens at night works not just as another soundbite; it’s a wild call preparing us for the grand spectacle of our musical universe.”
