VIA PRESS RELEASE | Luna’s Elektra Records debut, Lunapark, is Run Out Groove’s new pre-order title this month.
Lunapark, originally issued on August 18, 1992, and recorded at RPM Studios in NY, is the band’s debut album for Elektra Records and Dean Wareham’s first release since disbanding Galaxie 500. For this North American debut on wax, we are expanding the album to include a bonus LP of demos recorded prior to the band signing with Elektra. Lunapark Deluxe Edition is available to pre-order until May 31, and then will be individually numbered and limited to a one-time pressing. A limited quantity of transparent blue and transparent green color vinyl can be purchased exclusively at runoutgroovevinyl.com while supplies last.
Dean Wareham, when asked about the band’s debut said, “I can’t believe it has been thirty years since we recorded Lunapark! It was a revelation to hear these bonus tracks, especially long-lost demos that we made with Dave Fridmann at Toxic Shock studios in Manhattan. And I’m glad to get the ultra-rare 7″ “Egg Nog” included here; we recorded that Christmas single shortly after finishing the album and it’s one of my very favorite Luna tracks.”
Each month, Run Out Groove allows fans to vote on the label’s next high-quality vinyl pressing, chosen from selections of unreleased material, reissues of out-of-print titles, titles that have never seen a vinyl release or brand-new collections compiled from the Warner Music vaults. You can vote on this month’s titles here.
