VIA PRESS RELEASE | The late Johnny Cash, one of the towering, most influential characters to emerge from the original rock and roll era, is justly celebrated with the release of The Original Sun Albums 1957-1964, a mightily impressive, lavishly packaged, and superbly remastered 8CD Earbook set, released on Charly Records on Friday, April 28th, 2017.
The release of this set celebrates the 60th anniversary of the release of Johnny Cash’s first album in 1957, presenting for the first time ever, all 7 classic Cash Sun albums in one deluxe collection. Comprising 83 songs as they appeared on the original LPs, plus a bonus disc of alternate versions, rare recordings, and outtakes, all newly remastered from the original Sun master tapes!
Also included are every Johnny Cash 7-inch single A & B side originally released on Sun Records, including such essential hit recordings such as “I Walk The Line,” “Cry! Cry! Cry!,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Ballad of A Teenage Queen,” “Home of the Blues,” and many, many more.
The set features a deluxe 60-page hardback book, which reproduces original album artwork, liner notes, and labels, and includes rare photos and memorabilia from the Sun Records archives, as well as a Johnny Cash career retrospective, in-depth album sleeve notes, rare recordings track-by-track, discography, Sam Phillips’ recollections, and an introduction by Sun Entertainment Corporation President, John A Singleton:

2017 would have been Cash’s 85th birthday, and February 2017 marks the debut of the series Sun Records on CMT in the United States, a TV re-imagining of the successful Million Dollar Quartet stage musical.
