TVD Premiere: N Wolex, “No Regrets”

N Wolex is set to debut his first 7” “If I Had” b/w “No Regrets” July 28th. The single aims to introduce his moody piano driven stories of domestic hardship to an international audience, exposing the social deficiencies ripe within the Northern hemisphere the world.

Former fashion and editorial model Nicholas Wolex hails from South-East London where he is known for his dinner party performances. These suit and tie affairs are billed as “An evening with N Wolex” during which the audience is treated to personally scored music sheets that accompany the classically informed music.

There is something strangely compelling about “No Regrets” which echoes the English pop Americans have come to love. It paints a delicate portrait of a women struggling to keep her relationship together while balancing her life and career. The plaintive chorus peddles the all-too-honest statement “I don’t want no life of regrets / you don’t want no life of regress. No, no, no.” One can bathe in the sheer delight of the English language here as our heroine refers to walking the pup and improving her career chances.

N Wolex has a sharp-focus approach to his productions, putting across his emotional ideas with a fine tuned sound that bridges classical music and pop. This stringent presentation; by which the piano melody is followed by the voice until the chorus breaks, bucks any current trends by focusing on the tonality, the journey and drama that is conveyed by the cosmic coupling of music and lyrics.
