The closing number on Fierce Bad Rabbit’s 8 song EP seems to be a play on the album title. Within the thoughtfully picked guitar line and intimate vocal, one can feel both the unprocessed and dreamy qualities that are inherent in the lullaby musings of “Living Sleep,” the follow-up to their critical breakthrough The Maestro and the Elephant.
“Dreaming of Things To Be” has an ambiguity which allows the emotional nature of the song to strike the right chord in just about any (heart-centered) situation. As stated by front man Chris Anderson,“The song is a reflection on the moment and observing something beautiful as it lies sleeping in front of you. I wrote it about the peacefulness of a child, the joy of a lover and the security of a mother to child. All the things beautiful at one moment as it passes by, and dreaming of the future or the past and being still within the present.”
Mr. Anderson certainly delivers the song in a romantic tone, enveloped by rich excellent 3-part harmony, airy slide guitar, and delicate rim shot drumming. It ebbs and flows effortlessly for three lazy, sun soaked minutes and when it’s done, it beckons another play. This is clearly Sunday morning coffee sipping tunage, allowing the day to unfold on a positive note.
The full EP, “Living Sleep” is slated for release on September 23, 2014 and can be purchased through the band’s website.
