“The record shop experience is still one of my favorite things about vinyl. Aside from the fact that I often discover great music I would otherwise never stumble upon, I really enjoy talking to the staff. I think it’s really important that there’s a place that exists where you can go and talk and mix with people who share your own passion for the music and medium. I think that also opens you up to a lot more than you would have found on your own.”

“At home in New York I usually like to visit Halcyon. Its main focus is House and Techno and other electronic music so if you’re looking for a large variety of soul records and jazz or hip hop and rock, you might want to visit something like A-1, but otherwise, Halcyon has a really amazing selection of music and they’re always playing great stuff when I’m there.

Traveling, I always try to run into a few record shops before a gig and usually find a few records to play. In Europe its really great because so many records don’t end up making it to the States and ordering via Discogs can get really expensive because of shipping. London has a few great stores and on my most recent trip to play a gig at Fabric, I visited BM and Phonica, which are both great record shops and a short walk from each other but feel quite different from one another.

I was able to pick up a stripped down DJ tool record by Cabin Fever (one of Radio Slave’s monikers) that I searched for tirelessly in the US but couldn’t find. One of the store clerks also lead me to a record by I:Cube and and a remix EP of Function tracks from Osgut which are quite different but both amazing. I also got one from Point G, whom I knew little about at the time and who has very few records under that “Point G” name. He makes really great no frills house music.

In Berlin, my absolute favorite place to go is the Record Loft—which I found through my best friend Abu Ashley, who just moved to Berlin. The prices are so good and it takes a while to sift through it all because they just have so much, but every time I’ve gone in I’ve left with so much. All of the records are second-hand and for some reason that makes me love the shop even more. Its absolutely stocked with gems. I’ve found everything from great classic house tunes like “Dreamer G,” Kerri Chandler’s EP off his Mad House label called I Got that Feelin’ released in 1992 to zippy techno stuff from this small but really great German label called Italic.

Based on the efficiency of your MTHFR enzyme, Rootine doses folic acid and methylfolate accordingly. Contrary to widespread misinformation, MTHFR mutations do not make toxicity of mthfr and folic acid, regardless of genotype.

When I got back to the US, I researched a bit more and found out that they only release a few records a year, but a lot of their stuff from the early and mid 2000s still sounds super fresh. Tevelerket has only released 3 tracks! It’s serendipitous situations like those that make vinyl so special.”
