Spanish-born pecas, aka Sandy Davis’ self-recorded debut Dwelling was tracked over the course of two years in a 19th century farmhouse in New Paltz, NY.
The atmospheric nature of the recordings can be felt through Davis’ understated production which fittingly lends itself to the current Fall weather. Her melancholy delivery conjures up an otherworldly canvas of sound awash with heartache and isolation. Delicate piano arrangements, shimmering guitars, and moody drums work together to form perfect dreamy foundations beneath pecas’ child-like timbre.
The single “Keeper” could be loosely defined as indie rock; landing somewhere between The Cowboy Junkies and Mazzy Star. Its sparse balladry is the sonic equivalent of a misty morning in upstate New York—a stark and introverted portrait of the solitary creative process Davis’ experienced while recording.
