We’re hanging out with The Shivers all this week whose backstory we recounted yesterday and whose record collection we begin to rummage through today.
The duo’s Keith Zarriello filled us in earlier in regard to flying to Manchester, UK to record the brand new LP More all analogue-like, thus Jo Schornikow is up today with a flip through her personal vinyl collection.
High Society Soundtrack: My absolute favorite film of all time (actually equal with Can’t Hardly Wait.) Bing reminds me of my Grandpa, I will always be in love with Frank and Grace is the woman I long to be. Plus a Louis Armstrong cameo? I can’t even.

The Shivers – Used To Be
For the Roses by Joni Mitchell: Three close high school girlfriends got me this for my 19th birthday. It was at the very start of my obsession with Joni and her voice, songs, style and person.
Everytime I hear a song from it I can see her standing naked toward the sea on the inside panels of the vinyl. I also think of my friends who gave it to me and the lovely women of my life.
“I’m a country station, I’m a little bit corny” —Joni Mitchell
Stardust by Willie Nelson: I found this one for 50 cents in a Salvation Army store. It’s a 2 for 1, in that Willie is one of my favorite singers and guitarists of all time, and here he’s singing some of my favorite jazz standards. It’s so simple and sad.
