The historic Fillmore here in San Francisco last week hosted one of the finest live acts in recent memory. The Airborne Toxic Event graced the legendary stage in front of a sold out crowd and put on a truly stellar performance. They are the band that no one waits for a hit single while screaming absurdly between song breaks, but instead the crowd hangs on every note as the dramatic and powerfully honest Mikel Jollet draws you into his world while the band dazzles the auditory senses with perfect chemistry.
Touring in support of their second album All at Once, the band recently debuted their latest video for “All I Ever Wanted,” stating that both the song and the video are loosely based on the short story “The Hitchhiking Game” by controversial author Milan Kundera.
The new album continues to build on their incredibly well-written 2008 self-titled debut, and this time the band has once again outdone themselves. There are not many bands out there today that can write a full album that reminds you of why you used to buy full albums; this band will make you nostalgic in that sense.
I have two bits of advice for you. One, celebrate this band’s two releases on vinyl as it sounds incredible turned up very loud, and two, go see them every single time you have the opportunity. You will not be disappointed in either respect.
