Greetings from San Francisco and welcome to the latest addition to The Vinyl District network of blogs. I am very excited to be blogging from a city that has given us influential artists such as Faith No More, The Dead Kennedys, Metallica, and of course Huey Lewis and the News, just to name a few. This city has a reputation for an amazingly diverse music scene, and who knows who will break out of here next; hopefully you will read about them here first.
A little bit about me. In the early nineties I played in a hair metal band until Nirvana came out and single “bandedly” killed the genre. I’m quite glad they did because at the time I enjoyed wearing flannel much more than spandex. I worked in a few different record stores while attending college and after graduation I landed a job working for Sony Music Entertainment. I spent over 10 years with Sony before finally bowing out gracefully to take a job in the world of social media. I have seen hundreds and hundreds of bands live, I have what some people would refer to as a “problem” with buying too many records, and nothing gives me more pleasure than turning people on to new music.
With that being said, I look forward to keeping you up to date with what’s going on here in this world class city. You can expect to see posts on all things music related including new releases, local record store news, upcoming shows, and much more. I will also be featuring some very special guest contributors to really round out the voice of this blog.
