France’s Tahiti 80 swept onto the musical radar in 1999 with their debut full length, Puzzle. Since then, they’ve consistently released unabashedly upbeat electro pop records (an impressive 10 EPs and 5 full lengths to be exact) that have positioned them on the front lines of the French pop invasion, in the company of fellow invaders like Phoenix and Air.
The latest and most recently released Tahiti 80 full-length is The Past The Present and The Possible, out now on Human Sounds. Check out what all of the “oh la la” is about tonight at Mercury Lounge. The show is at 9:30 and tickets are $15 at the door.
Tahiti 80’s tour also takes them into Austin next week for SXSW. They play Thursday at the France Rocks Austin showcase, happening at The West Tent, Brush Square Park (409 E. 5th Street). There will be free food, beer, wine, champagne(!!) and of course, a collection of the best upcoming indie music out of France with bands like Revolver and Chateau Marmont.
