Following their involvement in Lollapalooza 2011, The Kills return to New York City for a pair of shows beginning tonight at Terminal 5.
Alison Mosshart and the newly wedded Jamie Hince sold out the same venue in April to support the release of Blood Pressures, the duo’s fourth LP through Domino Records. This time, The Kills and bring local favorites The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and A Place to Bury Strangers to midtown Manhattan, balancing the two-night bill with indie and noise-rock fare.
Earlier this year, The Kills released a short film on IFC, also titled “Blood Pressures.” The footage, running about 11 minutes, captures interviews and informal live performances of new material from the recent record. “Blood Pressures” was directed by thirty-two, the creative alias for filmmakers Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern. As mentioned by Mosshart and Hince in the film, their new cuts sacrifice some of the menace that has characterized previous Kills records for more melodic beauty.
Both shows, tonight August 8 and tomorrow August 9, start at 8PM.
