There a couple really cool in-store performances coming up at one of NYC’s great record shops, Other Music, that I thought I should let you know about. The first is from experimental pop artist, Julia Holter, on Wednesday, March 7 @ 8:00 P.M.
“Julia Holter’s powerful new record on RVNG International, Ekstasis, is one of those impossible-to-classify works that endlessly intrigue us, straddling the line between pop and experimentalism, but with a rigor and attention to detail that elevates it far beyond expectations.
Holter’s singing draws on folk forms and dreamy pop both vintage and current, and the richly atmospheric instrumentals can swing as easily towards neo-classical musings or dark found-sound illusions as they can hazy electro and shoegaze pop. We are thrilled that the Los Angeles-based singer will be gracing the shop with a very special solo performance this Wednesday evening, and we hope you will join us for this rare NYC appearance.”
The other in-store comes from Sonic Youth co-founder and fantastic artist in his own right, Lee Ranaldo, on Tuesday, March 20 @ 9:00 P.M.
“Just in! We are very excited to announce a record release party and special in-store performance from a New York City legend, none other than Lee Ranaldo, celebrating the release of his great new Matador LP, Between the Time and the Tides!”
