Voodoo Fest offers $99 weekend pass for 2013

On Tuesday, the new festival site in City Park which will be the long-term home of the Voodoo Music Experience, was inaugurated with much fanfare. The organizers of the fall festival also took the opportunity to offer a big discount for holiday shoppers.

Taking a page from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, which also recently put tickets for the 2013 fest on sale, Voodoo is offering its full slate of weekend passes including the high end Loa package ($300), before any acts have been announced. The big difference is the steep discount that Voodoo is offering.

At the 2012 festival, one friend paid nearly $125 for a single day ticket to Voodoo on the day of the event. For fans that are sure they will be attending, this offer is a huge bargain.

The 2013 Voodoo Music Experience is set for November 1-3, 2013. The new site, which is on the Wisner Avenue side of the park, occupies 50 acres south of Interstate 610. It will be a welcome change for fest goers that have been accustomed to slight tweaks in the festival’s layout over the past few years. Prior to Hurricane Katrinawhich destroyed City Park, the festival was never settled into one spot. The two main stages were even set up on Scout Island at one point.

Scout Island is now the location of the on-site camping facilities. Discounted camping passes are also available. The general camping option is $248 at the early bird price and includes two weekend passes. The Loa VIP camping option, which sold out this year, is $2,500.
