Back in November of last year, we premiered the first video off of Yojimbo’s current album, Ghost Birthdays. Today, in celebration of Valentine’s Day we are proud to present their latest phantasmagoric creation.
Bandleader Carly Meyers had this to say about the new song, “’This Love’ is about how you can fall so deeply in love with someone it actually scares you. That ‘hopelessly devoted’ feeling that an independent, strong person like you is NOT supposed to feel! Its scary feeling like your world would fall apart without them. I mean what would you do if no one were there to tell your fly was down or you had cilantro in your teeth.
I’m sure we can all relate to this feeling on some kind of level, even if it’s not for anyone in particular but for what you do or how you live. I know I would loose my mind and be thrown in a straitjacket without my trombone. The love we’re talking about is unconditional love that can get so intense it’s frightening.”
She explained the idea behind the timing of the release, “We wanted to release this video and single as a special Valentines to our fans! No one should have to go through Valentine’s without a little love song dedicated to them, so here’s ours to you! YOJIMBO loves you!!”
Yojimbo plays Lundi Gras at the Blue Nile upstairs and on Fat Tuesday at the Hi Ho Lounge before heading out west for a string of dates. Tour details are here.
