Although I could easily have selected last night’s debut performance of Tommy Malone’s Blvd Jr. as my show of the week, I knew it would live up to my expectations, that honor has to go to tonight’s performance at Snug Harbor.
Lemmler has assembled an outstanding ensemble to perform an incredible range of music. The band features Evan Christopher, Rex Gregory, Richard Leveille, Ray Moore, Bobby Campo, Ashlin Parker, John Mahoney, Shane Theriot, Mike Lemmler, Darrian Douglas and Michael Brothers. Matt plays piano, sings and did all the arrangements.
If you have heard his Stevie Wonder tribute CD, “Portraits of Wonder” then you have some idea of what to expect.
But the band is also poised to play classical tunes by Bach, pop from Chicago, the Beatles and Randy Newman as well as Broadway show tunes and the theme from the 1970s classic television show, The Jeffersons. This is one diverse group of musicians. Show times are 8 and 10 PM.
