TVD Recommends: Wednesday at the Square (4/4 cancelled!)

UPDATE: Due to extreme weather heading back into the area, the Young Leadership Council decided to cancel this evening’s performance by Gravy and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Stay tuned to TVD for details on a reschedule date. Next week–Ivan Neville!

This afternoon the weekly spring series continues at Lafayette Square with Gravy opening for the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. The music begins at 5 PM and it’s rain or shine.

Gravy has been turning ears for nine years mining the funk sounds of New Orleans. They have been on fire lately.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band (pictured) recently announced that they are releasing their first new record since 2007 on May 1, 2012. The album, which is called Twenty Dozen will be on Savoy Jazz and features new originals plus some old chestnuts including “Paul Barbarin’s Second Line” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
