TVD Recommends: the New Orleans Suspects

There were certainly tears being shed this past Saturday night as the New Orleans Radiators called it quits after over 33 years sharing stages across the world together. But there have always been side projects since those five guys began playing together in January of 1978. Who could forget Monkey Ranch or the Malone Rangers? What about Bwana Dik and the Headhunters? Waldo and the Peppers?

Now, for the first time, members of the band are stepping out on their own with full time projects. Camile Baudoin, the on of the two smokin’ guitarists, debuted his new band, the Living Rumors on Sunday night. He is going back to his Cajun roots and playing with David Doucet of Beausoleil—the greatest Cajun band playing today.

Reggie Scanlan, the bassist in the Radiators, has also begun a new project that also includes world-class musicians. His band, the New Orleans Suspects (click to read the bio I wrote) features Willie Green from the Neville Brothers on drums, CR Gruver from Outformation and Leo Nocentelli on keys, and Jake Eckert and Kevin Harris from the Dirty Dozen Brass Band on guitar and saxophone respectively.

They begin a month long residency tonight at D.B.A. When one door closes, another opens. See you there!
