TVD Recommends:
Otra at the Little Gem Saloon, 5/10

It never stops in New Orleans especially for the musicians, and the guys in Otra are some of the hardest working musicians in town. They play at 10 PM Saturday night at the coolest Latin Night in New Orleans.

Perhaps the busiest of the entire band is the leader, bassist Sam Price (pictured above), although he may beg to differ. His “day job” is with the Honey Island Swamp Band, but he also debuted his latest project, LosOtros, a Brazilian inspired band at the Jazz Fest. Of Course, the HISB and Otra played Jazz Fest as well.

Wednesday afternoon, Otra played at the Wednesdays at the Square concert series. The photos were taken there.

I have already attended one Latin Night at the Little Gem with Otra performing. It was a great time for a few reasons. They played in the downstairs room, which has incredible acoustics and a great old school tile floor, the kind you used to see all over New Orleans, which facilitates dancing.

Of course, the band was on fire, but that’s kind of a given.

OTRA

If you like Latin jazz, great percussion, improvisation, or just grooving to some of the finest musicians around, check out the band and help make Latin Night a permanent fixture on the New Orleans music calendar.
