This evening from 6-9 Pm the vocalist will be celebrating the release of her 5th CD, Naughty Sweetie at D.B.A on Frenchmen Street.
Zaorski has been a fixture on the neo-traditional jazz scene in New Orleans for over ten years. Her vocal style is influenced by such greats as Billie Holiday, Judy Garland, The Boswell Sisters and Ella Fitzgerald. Yet she has developed her own compelling style.
She will be performing with a crack band featuring Matt Johnson on guitar, Robert Snow on bass, Charlie Fardella on trumpet, Matt Rhody on violin, Rob Wagner on sax and Chaz Leary on washboard.
Zaorski’s stage presence and songs are alternatively sassy and sweet and she has some wonderful original gems in her repertoire. One that stands out in my mind is “Christmas Stalking,” which appears on her holiday album. The pun in the title says it all.
