TVD Recommends: Camile Baudoin and the Living Rumors

Tonight at Chickie Wah Wah, one of the guitarists from the Radiators performs his second show with his new ensemble. The first performance was the night after the Radiators concluded their three-night stand at Tipitina’s that was the culmination of their 33+ years playing live music. The show starts at 8 PM.

Baudoin (pictured), who is known as the Dagger, is a monstrous shredder on the electric guitar. His lightning runs up and down the neck and incredible technique have left fans with their mouths hanging open for decades. But his new group has him leaving the electric at home in favor of an acoustic guitar and down home music that reflects his family’s Cajun roots.

Joining in the Living Rumors are David Doucet, the guitarist from the acclaimed Cajun band, Beausoleil and Harry Hardin, a well-respected younger talent who is best known for playing fiddle in Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes. Hardin also plays string music with several other ensembles.

The reports I got from the first performance of Baudoin’s new band were all positive. The interplay between the three musicians makes it seem like they have been playing together for years. The repertoire includes songs from his first solo effort, “The Old Bayou Blues.” It will be released on Threadhead Records.
