TVD Recommends: Alexis & the Samurai join Gasa Gasa July Progression Series, 7/9

Sasha Masakowski will welcome the fast-rising indie pop duo to her “no cover” event at Gasa Gasa tonight. The event showcases singers playing original music.

The duo composed of Alexis Marceaux and Sam Craft have been having great success with their residency at Chickie Wah Wah. Over 100 fans attended each Monday in June and they continue with their inventive concerts at the Mid City club through the month of July.

Special guests in June included Jack Craft on cello, guitar, piano and violin, upright bassist Rick Nelson of the Afghan Whigs and the Polyphonic Spree, guitarist and vocalist Alex McMurray (two appearances), and singer Arsene DeLay.

Some of their collaborations included classic songs such as George Gershwin’s “Summertime,” Pat Boone’s “Love Letters in the Sand” and Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.”

The whole night kicks off around 8:30 PM with Christin Bradford, then Sasha will play a set 9:30-10:15 (ish) and Alexis & the Samurai will close out the night from 10:30 till about 11:30.

See you there!
