With so much going on this weekend and every weekend until May, I thought I’d let you know about a cool event that is in its third year, but since it’s on Tulane University’s campus may be flying below the radar.
The Record Raid is part of Tulane’s radio station’s annual fundraiser, the WTUL Rock On Survival Marathon. Though the benefit has morphed into mostly club shows along with an on air pledge drive, locals with long memories will recall three wonderful days of live music on the college’s main quad.
The raid is essentially a celebration of second-hand music cultural goods, both high end and low-ticket. The organizers are expecting to have over 20 vendors from storefronts and private collectors, both in New Orleans and across the gulf south. 45s, LPs, CDs, cassettes, and more will be available.
The Record Raid takes place on Tulane’s campus near Broadway and Zimple Street from 11:00am – 5:00pm on March 26, 2011.
