Since beginning to brew beer in New Orleans seven years ago, NOLA Brewing has become the go-to choice for suds among discerning drinkers. They have also become a bit of a sensation for concerts inside their brewing facility on Tchoupitoulas Street. This Friday, they welcome Colorado’s the Motet for an early evening show.
Drummer Dave Watts has led the improvisational funk band for decades. They have consistently delivered first class performances even though the members of the band have changed over the years. Recently, the Motet announced new lead vocalist Lyle Divinsky and saxophonist Drew Sayers as official members.
“As difficult as change can be, the addition of Lyle and Drew has felt like an incredibly natural progression for the band. They are already brothers,” says Motet keyboardist Joey Porter.
Lyle Divinsky is a native of Portland, Maine—a soul man who was awarded the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Abe Olman Scholarship (John Legend was the recipient in 2002) and was hailed by Fuse TV’s as an “Artist to Watch.”
Powerhouse tenor saxophonist Drew Sayers, most recently of John Brown’s Body, brings his huge sound and rich tone to the Motet. He played and wrote horn arrangements on Beyonce’s last two albums and produced the 2015 John Brown’s Body release, Kings and Queens in Dub.
The Motet’s new line up hit the road beginning in mid-February and will back in New Orleans during Jazz Fest. However, this is a chance to see the band in the intimate environment of the NOLA Brewery.
Show time is 6:30 PM. Naughty Professor opens. Tickets are here.
