People tend to bitch around this town about the lack of early gigs on weeknights. But there seems to be a lag in perception because there are a number of clubs presenting first-rate talent that gets the babysitter home by 11:30 PM. This evening the guitarist and bandleader plays his first show after getting back from a European tour. It begins at 8:30 PM.
The concert is presented by the non-profit Sweet Home New Orleans. Marc’s band features Sean Carey on bass, Mike Burkhart on keys and Mike Barras on drums. An added treat will be a horn section featuring Antonio Gambrell on trumpet and Jason Mingledorff on saxophone. Gambrell plays with Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Mingledorff plays with Papa Grows Funk.
