Thank goodness
it’s Festival!

Tonight is the annual kick off party and fundraiser for the French Quarter Festival. It takes place at the House of Blues from 6- 9 PM.

The French Quarter Festival is celebrating 29 years of bringing free music to the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans. It’s been a tradition to kick it off with a party. Tonight Jon Cleary (pictured) and his new band, the Philthy Phew, are providing the entertainment on the main stage.

Cleary is a pianist and singer who has continually reinvented himself since landing in New Orleans from his native England. His latest release, Occapella, mines the fertile territory of the great Allen Toussaint. Cleary plays all of the instruments on the recording, which has been getting rave reviews.

Robin Barnes serenades party goers in the Voodoo Garden. Dinner from the kitchen at the House of Blues and three drinks are included in the price of the ticket, where is available here.

Be sure to check back with TVD for my picks tomorrow and Friday.
