Sasha Masakowski hosts Progression Series at Gasa Gasa Tuesdays in July

The soulful singer and second generation New Orleans musician will be presenting her musical friends at the new club on Freret Street beginning at 8 PM through the month.

I had my first experience at Gasa Gasa this past Saturday night checking out Southbound Drive. I can report that the intimate room has a great sound system. The music was crystal clear and not too loud considering the small space and the fact that the band was rocking out.

The crowd was a happy mix of young people checking out the scene. The drinks were reasonably priced compared to some of the other live music venues in town and they are served in glasses.

Sasha Masakowski has been on the scene for so long now that she actually seems to be a veteran already. But with both of parents being noted musicians, she has been preparing for her career since she was a small child.

Though press materials describe the music as being a mix of jazz and R&B, I expect that it will be a little more eclectic. She sings Brazilian songs in Portuguese and also performs with some of the more adventurous musicians in town.
