Jazz Fest tickets on sale as of Saturday, 12/1

Despite the fact that no acts have been officially announced, tickets went on sale Saturday morning December 1. For readers who consistently grouse at the admission prices, now’s the time to buy since tickets get more expensive as the event nears.

Additionally for well-heeled attendees, be forewarned that the special VIP access levels, which provide special amenities including up front and center access at the main stages, sell out every year. If you intend to be a “Big Chief,” get your tickets now.

I mentioned “officially announced” in the lead because the management team of legendary jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter accidently leaked the fact that he will be performing at the Fairgrounds for the first time since 2010. This is ironic because these leaks used to be considerably more common in the days before constant Internet connectivity. But the Jazz Fest organizers have always preferred to announce the entire schedule at once. That announcement is expected in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned to TVD for all the details as they emerge.

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival runs from April 26-May 5, 2013. For full details on pricing, go here.
