The Americana music darlings perform tonight at One Eyed Jack’s before heading out on an ambitious 33 date tour that takes them all across this land of ours including stops in California, the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest, New England, New York City, and Nashville before winding up mid November in South Carolina.
If principal songwriter Alynda Lee Segarra is looking for inspiration she will certainly find it on this epic road trip. Reflecting the band’s new cachet in certain circles, they will perform numerous one-night stands in clubs like the Soda Bar in San Diego and the Beachland Tavern in Cleveland, which are on nobody’s maps, while also playing two nights at the revered Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and a show at the hipster heaven known as the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York.
Much of the attention swirling around Segara and her band stems from their recent signing with ATO Records—the label that is owned by Dave Matthews and is home to another band, the Alabama Shakes, whose trajectory the HFTRR gang would undoubtedly like to emulate.
Their new album, and first in their new home, is expected in February. In keeping with the new ethos of the music business today, the merch table at these gigs will be selling pre-orders of the new record.
All pre-orders will come with a link to download a live show and a chance to win a lyric sheet, handwritten by Alynda. Management is even promising that the winner can pick his or her favorite song.
Tonight’s show features fellow travelers, the Deslondes, the Spirit Family Reunion, and Michael Kiwanuka.
